Kipling Camp Resort

Kipling
Camp a Jungle Lodge that was established in 1990 on the edge of Kanha Tiger
Reserve (Village Mocha near Kisli Gate) in Madhya Pradesh. The camp is open
to naturalists, conservationists and those who wish to relax in idyllic surroundings.
It is also the home of TARA, the much-loved elephant who starred in Mark Shand's
best selling epic "My Travels on an Elephant". Kipling Camp is a simple
and comfortable Forest Lodge with an excellent cuisine and bar.
In order to ensure good sightings of tiger and other wildlife, a stay of at
least 3 nights is recommended. Visitors are taken out by open four-wheel drive
vehicles to see and photograph wildlife at dawn and in the afternoon picnics
and bird walks are arranged.
Accommodation
Kipling Camp has cottages with 24 comfortable double rooms, all with
attached bathrooms. Each room is furnished with two beds, a tiled en-suite bathroom
with shower, shelves and hanging area for clothes. Heaters and hot water bottles
are available in the winter, and room coolers in the summer. There is electricity
and excellent home cooking
Facilities
There are many comfortable areas to sit and unwind around camp. Our well equipped
library - which offers an abundance of wildlife and research books, and novels
- provides the perfect excuse to relax in a hammock.

For
the more active, there is a volleyball court, which comes 'alive' every afternoon.
Laundry, which is collected from the rooms, is delivered the same or next day.
There is a safe in the office for clients who wish to hand in valuables.
The water filter system at camp ensures that all drinking water and ice is perfectly
safe.
Kipling Camp is on mains electricity, backed up by two large generators.
There is a souvenir shop selling various clothing items, post cards, books and
stickers. We also sell professional tiger photographs.
Various wildlife documentaries, including 'Land of the Tiger' and other films
made in Kanha, are screened in the evenings.
The camp has three open-topped 4WD Maruti Gypsies for safari drives. These are
equipped with first-aid kits.
Dining
The Refreshments Bar in the Shamiana serves a wide variety of beverages.
Picnic Breakfasts are served in the National Park and eaten at an opportune
time during the morning safari.
Lunch and Dinner are served in the Shamiana back at the Camp. Our menus offer
a wide range of Western and Indian Cuisine, which is prepared by our experienced
chef. Many clients prefer Indian cuisine, although we are careful not to prepare
anything too spicy! Home cooking is a specialty and a good old roast chicken
with all the trimmings is a popular dish.
On arrival, any specific food preferences are noted and all attempts are made
to accommodate these requests.
At least one lunch or one dinner during our guests' stay is arranged on the
banks of the Banjar River, around a campfire. The dinner picnic is candlelit
in a wonderfully romantic setting. Many of our guests cite this as a highlight
of their stay.
